The Comox Valley is always bustling with opportunities to connect and have fun. From Farmer’s Markets to Poetry Readings at the library, and from music festivals to mountain bike races — here are a few exciting things happening right here in your neighbourhood.

  • Piano Heist

    Sid Williams Theatre
    Jenn's Picks

I am going to this because I have seen Nico Rhodes before and know that he is impressive. But this will likely include all the cheesy holiday charm that isn’t really for everyone. Literally the event says that they will play parts of The Messiah on the melodicas. You’ve been warned. Tickets

  • Jazz Jam

    the Mex
    Jenn's Picks

There’s a rotating host band that begins each jam session with a short set Then guests, particularly jazz students, are invited to come and jam. The talented Beau Stocker serves as jam manager. There’s no cover, it runs from 6-8pm and it supports young musicians. A perfect way to spend a Thursday night!

  • Ash Grunwald

    Waverley Hotel
    Jenn's Picks

SOLD OUT SHOW! This is Australia’s premier bluesman renowned for his live performances. Vig has been bringing him to Cumberland ever since he first came to Canada and clearly people know just how good this concert will be.

  • Festive Brass

    St George's
    Jenn's Picks

Here’s where I’m going to get my saccharine Christmas vibes. But it’s nostalgic for me. We used to see the Canadian Brass play every year in Toronto. Now, I see Festive Brass at St. Gs. I have learned, arrive early, it gets packed fast! Tickets

  • Sleeping Beauty Panto

    Sid Williams Theatre
    Jenn's Picks

This is Courtenay Little Theatre’s Panto. The costumes and set at last year’s show had me gobsmacked. I have no doubt this production will be good. Tickets

  • Winter with Matthew Krell

    Tidemark Theatre
    Jenn's Picks

I bought tickets to this show purely because the event posting is just a guy holding a keytar. Matthew is an off-broadway actor now based in LA. Literally I know nothing other than, He plays keytar! Tickets

  • Felix Cartal and Glass Petals

    Native Sons Hall
    Jenn's Picks

I know I shouldn’t knock our community but I’m a little shocked that Felix Cartal has chosen to spend NYE here. I mean, this guy played alongside MSTKRFT in the noughties. Then his sophomore album debuted in the top 10 on electronic music charts. I know him best for Love Me with Lights, which has...

  • DJ Bikirious, Dollhead and Devours

    Comox Curling Club
    Jenn's Picks

If you’ve been getting this list for a while you know that I am a devoted Devours fan. Last year’s NYE with him brought me so much joy. I also enjoyed Dollhead at this year’s Woodstove. Electropunk! I don’t know how I am going to do it, but by golly, I am going to figure...

  • Petunia and the Vipers w/Spank Williams

    Waverley Hotel
    Jenn's Picks

But if EDM or electropunk isn’t your jam and you’d prefer Hank Williams on acid, then The Waverley has a wonderful offering. It will be lots of folky fun too. Tickets
